Nashville Singer-Songwriter Michelle Rhea Goddard Shares Journey From California to Nashville in New Single
NASHVILLE, Tennessee — California native turned Nashville resident Michelle Rhea Goddard released her first single, “Nashville” on June 25.
“Nashville” is the first of six singles in anticipation of Goddard’s freshman debut album, “Breaking Bread: Songs of Reconciliation.” The 17-track album is scheduled to release in early 2022.
Taken from and built upon a verse and chorus that mysteriously dropped into her head years ago, “Nashville” tells of how Goddard listened to a deeper calling on her life. After working for several years fighting injustice to ensure that all groups had equal and fair access to job opportunities within tech, Goddard left Silicon Valley behind. With no musical background or formal training, Goddard moved to Nashville to pursue singing, songwriting and producing music full-time.
With a dream in her heart to share songs that inspire, help to heal, and empower those that are on this proverbial journey of life, Michelle established God's Voice LLC to produce, publish and distribute this dynamic music that connects her listeners to life’s journey of love and transformation.
“‘Nashville’ is about a dream realized. I never thought I would find myself living in the south and uprooting my life in California. But here I am. I hope for the folks that need a song that inspires them to take a leap of faith and see where it goes, they find it in Nashville. I’ve had the journey of a lifetime and so grateful I listened to the song’s call to take that leap,” said Goddard.
Goddard’s music can be described as a mix of “classical, Americana, folk-rock, 80’s rock, Nashville honky-tonk, and even a little ska is thrown in for good measure.” It’s a little bit of California cool meets the South. Her musical influences include everyone from Biggie Smalls to Lawrence Welk and a multitude of genres and artists in between.
The music video for “Nashville” showcases Goddard’s journey of taking a leap of faith and moving to Nashville from California, from thinking about it to actually make it happen. Goddard’s journey to Nashville started in 2016 when the lyrics to the song popped into her head. After a visit to Nashville in early 2019, Goddard decided to make the cross-country move to begin her journey as a musician.
As a self-proclaimed “Cali Girl Livin’ in a Southern WorldSM,” Goddard is an understood work in progress where she can relate to the audience and those who have willingly decided to join her on this journey called life. She urges listeners to come along on the journey with her, have some fun and make some kick-ass music together.
